## Recurring, yes — debited, no

When people search for “recurring payment”, they often think of a stored card or a direct debit: the account is debited every month without the customer doing anything. virement.tn deliberately does it differently.

A virement.tn recurring payment is **a subscription that generates an invoice at each due date**. The customer sees it, then pays it by bank transfer from their own banking app. Nobody can debit their account on their behalf, and no card data is stored.

**What this changes in practice:** you no longer have to re-enter or claim each installment — invoices are generated, notified and tracked automatically. But the payment remains an action by the customer: if they forget, they are chased, not debited.

## How a subscription works

1. **You create the subscription**: the customer, a label, the frequency (monthly, quarterly, annual or one-off), a start date, an optional end date and an amount ceiling.
2. **You generate the installments**: up to 24 invoices in advance in a single operation, each one dated.
3. **Each invoice appears on its date** in the customer's space, and they are notified. Under the ceiling you set, it is confirmed automatically, with no new code.
4. **The customer transfers the amount** to your verified RIB; the bank confirms, the invoice moves to “paid” and you are notified.
5. **Without payment**, the delay is detected automatically and the customer is chased.

The customer can also choose to pay an upcoming installment early, if they wish.

## Direct debit, card or recurring transfer: which is right?

| | Direct debit / stored card | virement.tn recurring transfer |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who triggers the payment | The organization, automatically | The customer, at each due date |
| Customer's consent | Once, then automatic debits | An agreement at the start, then one transfer per installment |
| Sensitive data | Card number or mandate | None: only a destination RIB |
| Risk of a forgotten installment | Low, but non-payment possible if funds are insufficient | Higher: hence the automatic reminders and follow-ups |
| Payer's control | Limited | Total |

The recurring transfer suits relationships where the customer wants to stay in control — membership fees, rent, premiums, school fees — and organizations that do not have access to a direct-debit solution.

## Usage examples

- **Association** or condominium-manager **membership fees**, each quarter.

- **Rent** and service charges on a fixed due date.
- **Subscriptions** to a service, monthly or annual.
- Monthly or quarterly **school fees** (see the [private schools](/en/private-schools-tuition) page).

If the total is known and is settled in a defined number of installments, prefer [installment payments](/en/installment-payments). ## Frequently asked questions

### Is a virement.tn recurring payment a direct debit?

No. The customer's account is never debited automatically. At each due date an invoice is issued and the customer pays it with a bank transfer they trigger themselves from their banking app. Regularity comes from the automatic generation of invoices and reminders, not from a debit.

### Which frequencies are possible?

A subscription can be monthly, quarterly or annual, or one-off. You can generate a series of invoices in advance, up to 24 installments.

### What happens if the customer forgets to pay?

The delay is detected automatically and the customer is chased. The invoice stays visible in their space until it is paid.

### Can the customer stop or suspend a subscription?

Yes. The customer stays in control: they can suspend the subscription from their space. A subscription has a status (active, suspended, expired) and an optional end date, and no new invoice can be generated while it is not active.

### Does the customer have to re-enter a code at every installment?

No. For a customer already committed to a subscription, under the ceiling you have set, the invoice is confirmed automatically at each due date, with no new code.
